Every year on Christmas Eve, owner David Hevia writes a special poem for his Kiefer Elves. It's become a beloved tradition to gather around at closing time on December 24th to hear what the boss came up with this time. The poem is different every year and is a recap of the year and the holiday season. This tradition used to be a well kept internal secret at Kiefer Jewelers, but we decided to start sharing this with the world after many requests. If you would like to watch the video of David reading the poem for the first time to his Kiefer Elves, click here or click the video button below.
A Kiefer Christmas Poem 2022
It’s time, Kiefer Elves
Gather round here, bring yourselves
To hear story and whimsey combined
About a magical time & place
Talking bout here in this space
That the boss will tell stories that rhyme
I must confess over time
It’s getting harder to rhyme
But it’s fun to see if I can do
With your great success
Can I do any less?
Than to set poem to my little thank you
It’s been years since it started
When the boss, tired and full-hearted
Decided to sit and write verses
Back then, it was not easy
Since I had to be more busy
With running the ship on its courses
This year, like most others
I hadn’t yet bothered
To start writing this until this morn
This year, I had moved
Been sick, and spouse too
Lots of reasons to make it not done
But, I always come through
It’s one line and then two
And for you, it just seems to roll on
I can’t help but have passion
For this Kiefer fashion
One day I might make it a song
I love all the Kiefer faces
Your energy and fast-paces
Where they all come to make Christmas joy
They clean out the show cases
Like it’s a day at the races
All that you make them enjoy
One thing that has shown
Is that this Kiefer thing’s grown
And it’s growing with every time turn
With the people that have been
Kiefer Elves, women and men,
All making the difference that’s earned
This year, what is true
The year is 2022
And the story continues to amaze
It seemed so chaotic
Some oops, oh, forgot it
But, next year we’re better always
As Santa darts off
To his work with Rudolf
Kiefer Elves have made merry these days
There are some that are new
Some came back, who knew?
The ones here, some for a long ways
One thing not in this song
Covid is gone
And some people that one day will tell
That they used to be here
And we will be happy to hear
And we will about them as well
Now let me talk to you straight
Yes, I know that it’s late
Please take a moment to thing for yourself
About a year ago now
Where you were anyhow
And where you are now, Kiefer Elf
Are you happy to see
The difference that be
In the year, that 12 months, that went by?
When you think back then
Then think forward again
Is it a smile that you have in your eye?
If it is, then I reckon
Your Christmas gift is unwrapping
With a gift no one has under the tree
And another year forward
Your gift is more toward
The way things you thought they could be
I’m happy if you see it
That the reason no regret
For all this crazy exercise
In the end it’s not money
Or jewelry or luxury
It’s something that many can’t size
Here, you are something
To someone and fitting
A thing that you might like to call home
For if you go elsewhere for reason
And miss the Kiefer season
Then you might miss this old boss’s poem
Too many names to install
In a rhyme to you all
So just know that you are the you
When I write my dumb poems
And say thanks, glad your home,
It’s the you that I’m talking to.
I’ve got to end now
Time to end this somehow
I can never express enough
That it’s not just today
It’s 365 times to say
How can lucky be such lucky stuff
But, now I am through
Tiime to pull and leave view
With the rest of your Kiefer family tree
We did it again
Hit the mark till the end
Merry Christmas, and warm wishes from me.
