I Forgot My Wedding Vows
Dan and I tied the knot at the Davis Islands Garden Club and it was the absolute perfect day! We decided to do a first look where we shared our private wedding vows to each other and it was such a special moment. It also gave me a chance to breath and get out some of the wedding jitters. We stayed at the Westin Harbor Island Resort the night before and after our wedding which really made us feel close to all of our out-of-town guests. While packing for our 2 night stay, guess which item I forgot to pack...my wedding vows! I had typed my vows on my laptop weeks prior to the wedding and here I was scrambling at the last minute. I didn’t realize until the morning of our wedding that I didn’t have them! So I had to re-create them from memory. Luckily, I had practically memorized my vows from all of the revisions I had made to them!
Lesson Learned
We rented a suite at the Westin Harbor Island for all of the girls to get ready in. It was so much fun to order room service and blast Taylor Swift while getting our hair and make-up done. Because all of the women of the family were busy getting beautified, we had no choice but to send the men of the family to decorate the gazebo at our wedding venue. Despite providing multiple photos of what it should look like, the guys just couldn’t understand what we wanted. We wanted the string of flowers to drape around the opening of the gazebo. Well the guys thought it would look nice to criss cross the two rows of flowers across the top like a spider web! They sent us a picture of their work and you could tell they were very proud of themselves. The ladies all burst into laughter when they asked what we thought! This probably would’ve caused a lot of stress for most brides, luckily I had some champagne in me so I was a little more relaxed at this point! We realized they were not kidding and actually thought it looked good like this! After sending some more inspiration pics stolen from Pinterest, the guys finally got it right. Lesson learned, the men of our family can't be trusted with decorating! I wish I saved a photo of what their work looked like but all I have is the final product from our ceremony.
My Wedding Bands
My engagement ring had a matching band that went with it but I felt that it was just too plain with my engagement ring. I’ve always had a love for all things vintage so I found this stunning vintage style band to put in-between my engagement ring and the matching band. I loved how it created this separation between the rings yet all three rings fit flush together. Since my engagement ring had such a thin band, it was easy to stack all three rings together. I also had all of my rings made in platinum to match my engagement ring. I love platinum because it’s 6x harder than gold and platinum is a naturally white metal that doesn’t require the maintenance that white gold requires. Dan's Wedding Bands
I guess I rubbed off on Dan because he picked out multiple wedding bands as well! Of course he gravitated to the trendy black alternative metal bands at first glance. He picked out a Benchmark Black Titanium band with carbon fiber inlay for his play ring to exercise and do physical activities with. But I didn’t really like how this ring was going to look in our wedding photos that we would cherish forever. I felt that it was really important for him to have a nice gold ring for our wedding day and other special occasions. Gold is a precious metal that will always have value and can be repaired and sized, unlike the alternative metals. I was also worried that the black titanium band might go out of style one day, but gold is timeless. So he picked out a 14K yellow gold Benchmark ring with a matte finish in the center and high polish beveled edges. He also got a few rubber Qalo wedding bands to wear in the pool and at the beach. There was really no excuse for him to not wear a wedding band with all of these options! Here are the links to Dan’s wedding bands:

My Wedding Jewelry
As you can see in the pictures, my wedding dress featured a high neckline so this made my necklace options somewhat limited. I honestly thought I was not going to wear a necklace but on my wedding day, my parents surprised me with a really special piece. They had a custom choker style necklace made using the diamonds from my grandmother’s wedding rings. The details on the chain matched the vintage style of my wedding band! My mom’s mom had passed away very suddenly several years prior and it was so special to be able to have a piece of her with me on my special day. My mom also let me borrow these gorgeous chandelier earrings from her jewelry wardrobe to be my something borrowed. I had always admired these earrings and they fit the vintage style that I was going with perfectly. For more information on our custom design process, click here!
