What is Ethically Sourced Gold?
Ethically sourced gold is simply gold that was mined with little to no negative impact on the miners or the environment in which they are mined. Gold mining usually happens in remote areas and can be very dangerous as it requires working with large and heavy machinery. Ethically sourced gold comes from mines where the miners are paid fair wages and have safe working conditions. These mines typically operate in such a way as to minimize the destruction to the earth as well. How Do We Know If Gold Is Ethically Sourced?
At first glance, this might seem even harder to track than blood diamonds but there are organizations like the Responsible Jewellery Council that have set out to accomplish this difficult task. The Responsible Jewellery Council conducts consistent audits of its members to ensure that the mines are following the code of practices set by the organization. Here are some of our manufacturers that are members of the Responsible Jewellery Council:
-Benchmark Wedding Bands-Citizen Watches
-John Hardy
-Marathon Children’s Jewelry
-Marriage Symbol and Christian Marriage Symbol
-Pandora
-SHY Creations
What is Recycled Gold?
If this doesn’t seem like enough assurance for you, we can take it one step further with recycled gold. Recycled gold is gold that was actually formed into a piece of jewelry that is melted down and re-used to be made into a new piece of jewelry. Of course this requires no additional mining and destruction to the earth to produce which is why it is gaining popularity with today’s consumers. Many of our manufacturers use recycled gold and we use recycled gold for all of our custom design projects. Click here to learn more about our custom design process!
What is Recycled or Estate Jewelry?
If you don’t feel like you have the creativity to create your own custom piece of jewelry but like the idea of recycled jewelry, an estate or pre-owned piece of jewelry may be just the answer for you. We purchase unwanted gold, diamond and gemstone jewelry from our customers and if it’s in good condition, we fix it up and put it on display in our cases! We do this to recirculate jewelry through the market, which does not require further mining and destruction to our earth. We call this our Estate Collection, and despite the name, these items are not necessarily old or out of style. We also offer great deals on these items because they were previously owned. Click here to shop our Estate Jewelry collection! How You Can Help?
One way we can all help to protect the future of our planet is to recycle our unwanted gold jewelry. There’s no day like today to clean out your jewelry box and let us help you sort through it all! We can help you redesign your jewelry so that you can enjoy it again. We can help you trade it in towards a new item. Or we can help you turn your unwanted jewelry into cash.
